Today, the Home Fair, the largest construction event in the region, kicked off at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, running until Sunday, March 9. Over 400 domestic and international exhibitors are showcasing the latest innovations in construction and renovation. With more than 40,000 visitors attending each year, the Home Fair provides a comprehensive overview of cutting-edge building solutions, allowing attendees to compare offers and gain expert advice for their construction or renovation projects.
A Hub for Shaping the Future of Construction and Living
The official opening of the Home Fair was led by Iztok Bricl, MSc, Director of the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, and Marko Lotrič, President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia. In their opening remarks, they emphasized the fair’s role as a meeting point for knowledge, innovation, and best practices in the construction industry.
Iztok Bricl highlighted the event’s significance: “The Home Fair is the ultimate exhibition where top manufacturers, cutting-edge technologies, and the latest trends in construction converge. For over 60 years, it has been a knowledge hub and a go-to event for anyone building, renovating, or planning their home. It is a unique opportunity for visitors to explore various exhibitors, consult with experts, and discover new solutions—all in one place.”
Marko Lotrič acknowledged the construction sector as a vital pillar of the economy, facing challenges such as rising costs, bureaucratic obstacles, and a shortage of skilled professionals. He stressed the importance of sustainable solutions and investments in education, which will attract young talent to the industry.
“I firmly believe in Slovenia’s vision as a technologically advanced and sustainability-driven country. Through active participation on the international stage—both scientifically and economically—we can strengthen our position in the global market and become a leader in innovation, including in construction,” he concluded.
Both speakers expressed enthusiasm for this year’s extensive exhibition lineup and encouraged visitors to take advantage of the fair’s wealth of information, inspiration, and solutions for their construction ventures.
